Ear Aches and Give Aways!

Just a reminder: Don't forget about the give away that ends on Valentine's Day!! Spread the word and better give a ways will come! :)
I feel like up until this point, I've only had to use the oils for minor things. Tummy aches here, headaches there. Nothing too serious. Well, yesterday, just after lunch, my 3 yr old son, Aaron told me that his ear hurt. Oh great! We're just all getting over sicknesses, not something else! He has had a congested cough a little bit here and there and some snuffles, nothing too major. When he said those words though, my heart sank. He is the only one of my kids to get ear infections and I hate seeing him in pain! So, immediately we got our oils out. I grabbed: Basil, Frankincense, Grapefruit, Melaleuca and Lavender. *My kids love using oils and so when he told me his ear hurt, he also added he needed some oils. Just a side note! :) * I quickly read up on some regiments and we got started. You don't ever want to pour the essential oils right into the ear. So I put a drop of Basil and Melaleuca on a Q-Tip and just gently stuck it inside his ear, just far enough for it to sit there by itself. Then I rubbed Frankincense and Grapefruit on the outside of his ear and behind it. He was literally screaming in pain and so this all took some time to get done because he wouldn't let me near his ear. He wanted me to just pour them into his ear and take the pain away. He is so used to being cured once I put the oils on him, he had a hard time understanding why it was still hurting and why I couldn't just pour it in his ear. I got a warm washcloth folded and tried to get him to lay down with it on his ear. I also rubbed a drop of Frankincense and Lavender on his feet and one drop of Frankincense and Breathe on his chest. Eventually I got him laid down on the couch cuddled up with me. Periodically, about every hour or so, I would do the same thing with the oils. By about 4:30pm, he finally fell asleep. He woke up about 5:45pm and didn't seem to be in as much pain. He looked like he didn't feel very good, but didn't say anything about his ear. We had dinner and put him in a nice warm bath. When he got out, I put all the oils again and gave him a little foot massage with the oils and lotion. We talked about his ear and he let me know it still hurt but not as bad. So he went to bed pretty easy about 8:30pm after running around with Piper, his little sister (so obviously he is feeling a little better!). This morning, I ask him how his ear was feeling, if it hurt at all. He told me "No, I'm fine." and continued to play with his dinosaurs.
He went from literally not being able to function because of the pain he was feeling, to being just fine in a matter of 24 hours! At one point, I told him if he doesn't feel better, maybe we'd go to the doctor. He quickly let me know that he didn't NOT want to go to the doctor, only wanted to use oils!
I will continue the regiment today and maybe tomorrow to make sure we've cleared it up.
Let me know if you have any questions about what I did here. I love using essential oils and love that my kids will cooperate (mostly!) and enjoy using them as well. It gives us moments to bond when I'm rubbing their feet or tummy and really makes me feel like I can take care of them and that they trust me to take care of them!
