Recipes

I had someone ask for the recipe of the Orange Julius that we made, so here is what my husband used:
1/2 sugar
1/2 container orange juice concentrate
1/4 milk
1/4 water
1 tsp vanilla
and like 12 ice cubes
(give or take a few depending on your size of cube and how much ice you like in it)
then 3-5 drops of whatever oil you want.
I really liked the Citrus Bliss more than just the plain grapefruit! :)

Also, at my house we try to do green smoothies periodically. I, myself, am trying to do one at least once a day for one meal. So for an idea to use with the oils, add a 1-3 drops of your favorite oil into a green smoothie. You could do lemon, grapefruit, lime, Citrus Bliss or Wild Orange. Give it a try and leave a comment with your recipe and how you liked it! :)

Skin Issues

How has everybody been lately??? My new semester started a few weeks ago and I might be getting the hang of it. Might is the keyword there.
So to refresh your memory a little bit, my oldest daughter, Abby, has extremely dry skin and has since she was a baby. We tried every kind of lotion and nothing seemed to really get to the root of the problem. When she was 4 years old, she really was getting more patches everywhere and it was really becoming irritating to her. So we got an allergy test done. The test came back to say that the only thing she was allergic to was....Nicotene! Ha! Well, since we don't smoke and we try to not be around anyone who does, there had to be another solution. The doctor gave us another prescription lotion and we have been using that. Around the time she turned 5, she showed us some bumps on her little bum that was itching. It looked like a wart. I took her into the doctor and it came back to be Molluscum warts that are caused from dry skin. There isn't really anything that can be done for these wart, you have just have to let them run their course. They do spread very easily though so you have to be very careful. She could be the only one to use a towel (which was fine by me cuz I like to wash our towels after every use). Eventually, a seed would come to the top of the wart. Instead of letting it fall off and perhaps land somewhere else on her body, only to spread this viscious virus, we would pick the seed out. Sounds gross, I know. The things parents do for their kids. When we started doing this though, we noticed that they weren't spreading and at least we felt like we had a little control over them. I decided to go to www.everythingessential.me and look up on the google group for doTERRA what other people are doing for these warts. I had tried other oils in the past, but they didn't seem to be right for her body. I read about someone else using doTERRA's blend of Clear Skin. So we decided to give it a go. It isn't the greatest smelling oil blend, I will be honest. It is a little strong too so after Abby got out of the bath, I would rub some of the fractionated coconut oil on her bum, elbows and down her legs. Then I would rub the roller bottle of Clear Skin directly on each of her little warts. We decided to do this regiment and forgo the prescription lotion for now.
HOLY COW!!!
Within a week, the warts were literally disappearing. They were no longer going through the process of getting larger and having the seed come to the top. They were just getting smaller and going away!!!! My husband was literally amazed at how well and how quickly we were getting results. We only put it on every other day after she gets out of the bath (mainly cuz that is when I remember!). I am so happy that we have found something that actually works and it doesn't involve anything that makes her uncomfortable or puts her in any pain.
I LOVE DOTERRA OILS!!!!!

If you have any skin issues, give this blend a shot. It comes in a roller bottle for easy use. There are actually two blends, one is a more recent addition to the blends. The original one costs $39.33 retail and only $29.50 wholesale. The newer form of the blend is only $21 wholesale while at $28 retail. (I will have to look into what the difference is.)

Orange Julius #2

On my last post, I told you that my husband made us some Orange Julius' one night for our late night snack and he put some drops of grapefruit in it.
Well, I put in a request for him to make another one last night, but this time, he put in 5 drops of Citrus Bliss. So yummy!!!! He thought he put a drop or two too much, but I thought it was so good!
Just wanted to share a tip for a healthy snack that is even healthier since you are putting the essential oils into it! Let me know if you try it and what you thought!

You Can Get Free Oils Too!

This can be a touchy subject with some people because it makes some feel like they might be forced to buy oils all the time when maybe they don't want to. That is fine. For those of you who are interested, I just want to give you more information about the autoship program that doTERRA offers. I currently have about 500pv to spend on oils right now. That is a lot of points!!! Just a reminder of what pv means - doTERRA has a point system (point value = pv) for each oil. Some are worth the same as their price, some are worth a little bit less than their price. Their autoship program is now called the Loyalty Rewards Program and is based off of how many pv you are spending each month. To earn free oils, you have to spend at least 50pv a month
The first 3 months that you are on the autoship, you will earn 10% back to spend on oils. From months 4-6, that percentage will go up to 15%, months 7-9 goes up to 20% and from months 10-12, you will get 25% back. Finally, from months 13+, you will earn 30% back of what you spend each month, to use on oils.
If you stop doing the autoship for one month, you will lose the points that you have earned. You are not required to do it for a certain amount of time. That is up to you. You are also able to change your order every month so that you can get whatever you want. I have been on the autoship for about 2 years and have not regretted it at all!!
To redeem your points, you simply pay $3 for every 100pv and pay for any shipping and handling. So if you are one of those lucky ones that live close enough to go pick it up from the office (I am not) you wouldn't have to pay for the shipping. I think it is a great deal for these oils!! Believe me, I am huge into great deals (I am a couponer!) and so if it weren't worth it, I wouldn't be doing it myself.
If you are thinking you are wanting to make this a business, the only difference would be is that instead of spending 50pv a month, you would have to spend at least 100pv a month
By signing up for the Loyalty Rewards Program (LRP) you are given your own website to order from and to refer others to order from.
I think this covers it all. Ha ha. Did I lose any of you along the way? Please ask me your questions and feel free to comment. I want this to be clear for everyone so that it can remain an option for you all! :)

Sidenote: My husband just made us a late-night orange julius and he put in two drops of grapefruit essential oil for a little flavor and health benefit!! :) It is yummy!!

Problems Commenting??

I have heard from a few people that the blog isn't letting them make comments. So I asked everyone on facebook for some help with this. The suggestion came back that you must have a google or gmail account of some sort to comment. I use my hotmail account to log into google and blogger and haven't had any problems ever commenting on a blog. So for those of you who are having issues with this, try that. It may let you log in with a yahoo account, but won't let you comment. I'm not sure why but just a thought! Let me know if that works for you!

"I Am Slim and Sassy"

If any of you are in need of a weight-loss boost, doTERRA has a Slim & Sassy event going on now so you should check it out. I cannot participate fully because I am nursing and can't use the Slim & Sassy (I noticed that it decreased my milk supply a little). But don't let that stop you from trying it out. I love it otherwise and plan to use it once I am done breastfeeding! Here is the link to check it out. Let me know if you are going to try it out so that I can be there to support you! :) Good luck!

Ylang-Ylang huh?

I have this bottle of oil that for one reason or another, I wanted to make sure that I had in my stock. But, due to my busy-ness, I have never actually used it or even looked it up to see how I could use it. I figured this post was a good enough reason to do that. It is called Ylang Ylang. I think it is pronounced ee-Lang ee-Lang. The oil comes from a greenish-yellow flower that actually is native to Asia. I love that I am learning about this oil now, during these winter months because guess what this oil can help with? It is an anti-depressant! There are so many people who unfortunately suffer from depression during the long, dark, cold winter months because of the lack of sunlight. This is a great oil to diffuse in your home if that is your case. It smells great and can also help with anxiety and releasing anger. It is also said to be an aphrodisiac and a great antiseptic. doTERRA gets their Ylang Ylang essential oil from the plants grown in Madagascar and is steam distilled from the flower.
To get the best benefits from this oil, it is said to take it in aromatically. So it is great to inhale and diffuse. Though it is a gentle oil to use topically. I love this part especially though. Ylang Ylang is a great oil to use in baths and massages!! I just might have to try that out this week. I start my semester this week and I'm sure that the stress will start building up (look at me pretending that it hasn't been stressful already just getting ready for school to start! ha!). It is also great for the skin so if you have any sort of skin problems, give this oil a try!
A random fact about Ylang Ylang is that is commonly used in flavoring of bubble gum!! Cool huh?
Ylang Ylang comes in a 15mL bottle and costs $47 retail
and only $35.25 wholesale.

Do you guys make New Years resolutions? If you do, what are some that you have made for the year 2012? Some of mine are to read some of the classics like Pride & Prejudice and Wuthering Heights. I also want to use an oil in my water at least once a day. I have been slacking on that big time and I know that I would be so much healthier if I did do this. To do this, you can add a drop of Lemon, Grapefruit (my fav), Lime, Peppermint, Slim & Sassy, or Citrus Bliss. Leave a comment with some of your New Years Resolutions. Do any of them involve the oils??
